John Joseph BATES was born on Aug. 2, 1910 in Newark, N.J. He died on Feb. 6, 1997 in St. Claire's Hospital, Denville, N.J. He was buried on Feb. 10, 1997 in  the Mausoleum at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown, N.J.

He was married to Lillian M. FICKBOHM (daughter of Frederick W. FICKBOHM and Lillian SIMPSON) on Nov. 25, 1935. Lillian M. FICKBOHM was born on Jan. 6, 1914 in New York City, N.Y. She died on Jun. 6, 1982 in Morristown, N.J (Memorial Hospital). She was buried on Jun. 6, 1982 in the Mausoleum at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown, N.J. John Joseph BATES and Lillian M. FICKBOHM had the following children:
